Cup O' Joe (Talbieh)
Cup O' Joe (Cafe Joe, in Hebrew) is a welcome addition to the Israeli coffee shop scene. While the big three chains (Aroma, Coffee Shop and Cafe Hillel) are justly famed for repelling the advances of Starbucks, they don't quite measure up to the standards of the new-wave American and European coffee chains, overflowing with exotic varieties and styles of coffee.
Enter: Cup O' Joe, late '90s, Tel Aviv.
Its first Jerusalem branch is on the corner of Keren Hayesod and Jabotinsky Streets, roughly between Rechavia and the German Colony.
The shop is beautifully designed, and unlike other Israeli coffee chains, the staff are well-trained in the art of coffee, ready to answer your questions and make suggestions. Cup O' Joe stocks more than a dozen varieties of coffee bean, from Kenya, Guatemala, Brazil and multiple points in between. And Americans jonesing for the rare filter coffee can get that, too.
The dairy menu is equally expansive, overflowing with pasta, wraps, salads, sandwiches, soup, focaccia, toasts and desserts for dining in or carrying out. And as an added bonus: free wireless Internet access.
