Alice

Although Israel's well-entrenched cafe culture has become increasingly dominated by the big Israeli coffee chains (Aroma Espresso Bar and Cafe Hillel), there's still plenty of space for small, independent cafe/restaurants to spring up. Alice, formerly called Gulindo, occupies that space.

Alice offers just about everything one could want from a cafe: cozy quarters at the bar, the tables inside, or outside on a warm day; stylish décor including constantly-updated works from the artists at the nearby Bezalel Academy; a quiet and intellectual crowd ranging from heavily pierced young punks to older businessmen; good coffee and a full kosher dairy menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

By night, Alice takes on a distinctly hip vibe as it becomes crowded with the 20-something set, enjoying dinner and on-tap Belgian beers.
