Amos Kenan: Hebrew Art

Beit Avi Chai presents a new exhibition--Amos Kenan: Hebrew Art

Painting and Sculpture, 1955–2005

The first retrospective of its kind focusing on 50 years of Amos Kenan’s drawings, watercolors, and sculptures. The exhibition reflects Kenan’s long struggle for art with a Hebrew character, rooted in ancient Middle Eastern culture and drawing on the local climate. It includes idyllic aquarelles of Mediterranean fantasies that merge Eros and the East in warm light, as well as archaic-looking neo-Canaanite sculptures that conduct a dialogue with the cultures of Egypt, Assyria, and more.
The Amos Kenan exhibition is an opportunity to consider the possibility of an original, native Israeli culture.

The exhibition will open to the public on Monday, December 21.

Curator: Gideon Ofrat

* The exhibition catalog may be purchased at the box office of BEIT AVI CHAI.
