This Purim, the Museum for Islamic Art invites the whole family to attend captivating theater performances, participate in arts and crafts workshops, and, as always, to visit the Museum's exhibitions. Monkeys, birds, masks, and hats: all this and much more awaits kids at the Museum of Islamic Art's Purim festivities.


Schedule of Purim events on Sunday and Monday, March 7-9, 2012:

Creative workshops:
March 7-8: 10:00-15:00 | March 9: 10:00-14:00

Arts and Crafts Workshops for children: Over the Purim holiday the museum will offer a wide variety of arts and crafts workshops where children can prepare projects such as decorated masks, noise makers, decorated drums, hamsas, and more. The children then get to bring their projects home with them.


Performances (cost included in museum entrance fee):


"The Raga and the Birds"
Wednesday March 7 at 12:00
The Train Theater presents "The Raga and the Birds," a performance based on an Indian legend about King Raga, the king of India, who heard the magical song of two birds, and sent messengers to trap the birds for him.


"Mediva's Mask"
Thursday March 8 at 12:00
This story theater performance tells the story of Mediva, of the Zulu tribe, who, with the help of a mask, was saved from the Congo tribe. The performance is accompanied by African music, songs, and masks.


"Of Monkeys and Hats"
Friday March 9 at 12:00
This story theater performance tells the story of a hat vendor, who planned to make funny hats for Purim, but when he meets up with monkeys in the forest, he changes his plans. What will he do now?
