Racha restaurant returns respect to the Georgian kitchen, offering diners a unique dining experience within a designed and luxurious setting. Racha resides in an old British Mandate period building on Havatzelet Street in Jerusalem, in the heart of the city, and its name derives from the Racha region in Georgia, where the restaurant owners were born and raised.
Racha's dining experience begins in the kitchen, with native Racha region chefs, led by the family matriarch, Tina. The kitchen serves the best of Georgian cuisne, all with the personal touch of the family, and offers a celebration of colors and tastes.
Among the recommended dishes are Ispanakhis, which is a
spinach tapenade with walnuts in a wine vinegar; Patrigianni, where eggplant is
layered among a mixture of walnuts and herbs; and Chanakhi, a dish that
combines layers of lamb with potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes, and herbs, served on
a bed of rice.
At Racha you will find two well-stocked bard, with the best
of liquors. One is a smoking bar, that also serves Georgian tapas, that suit
the free atmosphere and mood of the bar.
Racha is now open for lunch as well and has launched a new business lunch menu, offered daily from 12:-00-16:00. The deals, ranging from 79 NIS - 119 NIS, include a wide variety of main dishes prepared in authentic Georgian style, together with traditional salads and fresh breads, a soft drink, and of course desserts, hand crafted by family matriarch Tina, accompanied by tea/coffee.
In addition, Racha now offers a gluten-free menu.
On occasions when there is a large group of guests at a table, the owners of Racha will treat diners to a 200 year old traditional "Georgian Feast." Don't ask what the man in the photo is drinking from - that is part of the surprise.
The restaurant is Kosher and can hold events of up to 100 guests.
