The Pope's Holy Land pilgrimage concludes at Jerusalem's Chuch of the Holy Sepulchre

The Pope wrapped up his 2009 tour of the Holy Land with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City. His words expressed nostalgia over the experience of the past few days, summing up his trip with more expressions of solidarity with the region's Christians. "Here, before the empty tomb, at the very heart of the church," he told those in attendance, "I invite you to rekindle the enthusiasm of your consecration."

Pope Benedict XVI concluded by again tying in the timeless experience of mankind's spiritual quest with the contemporary experience of visiting contemporary Israel's capital: "As the Prince of Peace, [Jesus] is the source of that peace which transcends all understanding, the peace of the new Jerusalem."
