National Hebrew Book Week and the Jerusalem Light Festival, two hotspots on Jerusalem's summer calendar, kick off next Wednesday. Not to worry, though, there's plenty more going on to hold you over until then.

• Silent disco headphone parties are the hottest trend to rock the clubbing scene in the past few years, providing a surreal, unforgettable experience. The Jerusalem Mall (Malcha) hosts a hopping headphone bash tonight (Thursday) in the plaza outside the Mashbir. Rent a pair of headphones for 10 NIS and rock out the silent way.
  
  
• A relative newcomer to the Israeli rock scene, Liron Ben Shimon's debut album Erga (Longing) has been well received. Shimon hits the stage at Colony tonight as part of the restaurant's live music series, where she'll appear with special guest Amir Schreiber (Jerusalem Stone), playing songs from her album as well as covers.
  
  
• The Israel Festival goes classical with a weekend of classical music concerts at the Eden Tamir Music Center in Ein Kerem. On Friday, Mauricio Paez of the Jerusalem Academy of ‎Music and Dance directs a workshop for wind instruments, followed by double concerti by Bach and Vivaldi on Saturday, played by the center's resident Ensemble Millenium.
  
  
• Beit Shmuel hosts "Comedy for Koby," a benefit show performed by top-notch American comedians. All proceeds go to the Koby Mandel Foundation, working on behalf of families of terror victims. Comedians include Ron Pearson, Cory Kahaney, Avi Liberman and Kivi Rogers. Two performances on Sunday night will take place at 19:00 and 21:00.
  
  
• Meir Banai, Aliza and Din Din Aviv, Mark Eliyahu, Yehuda Sa'ado, Janet Yehudian Rotenstein, Shirly Tsafri, Elia Moyal, the "Kantabila" ensemble, and cantor Yisrael Rand come together for a unique performance at the Tower of David Museum which will combine modern music with authentic ethnic music. The concert takes place on Sunday as part of the Israel Festival.
  
  
• How do you build a centrifugal fountain? How does water get to your tap at home? As the weather outside heats up, children are invited to cool off and discover the answers to these questions and more at the Bloomfield Science Museum's recently re-opened water exhibits, where they'll experiment with active water displays, create take-home projects and attend fun, interactive workshops and demonstrations.
  
  
• The Alligator ensemble presents surprising hard bop and funk arrangements of songs that blossomed in the Roxanne club and became the soundtrack of the adolescence of its members and of many others, as part of Beit Avi Chai's "Hebrew Jazz" Series on Mondays: refreshing interpretations of top Israeli songs.
  
  
• Hebrew Book Week and the annual Light Festival in the Old City are just around the corner, and the Inbal Jerusalem Hotel is located just minutes away from both. • Wednesday is an exciting day/night for Jerusalem, with two major festivals kicking off. First, National Hebrew Book Week once again takes over Liberty Bell Park with literary products and productions.  
  
  And as the sun sets, the Old City plays host to the now-annual Light Festival (pictured), with daring works of lit-up art installed at several locations.
